steering column help
ok just to start off if i didnt have this forum to go to i wouldnt get anything done. so thanx everyone So i have a 71 K10 the steering column is moving in and out. ok so im talking about the inside shaft the one that goes from the steering wheel down to the steering box. now i do have a flaming river colapsable shaft because this truck has a body lift from the PO, but still lets say it did have the stock rag joint in , you can grab the steering wheel and pull it back anf forth about 1/2 inch ....any ideas??

If it was stock I would say that you were missing the large washer and coil spring that hold the lower shaft bearing in place. LockDoc

No problem. I'm not familiar with the column you have but let us know if you can add the washer and spring. It might help others with the same problem... LockDoc

Re: steering column help
ok so just as you said and the pic you posted shows the large washer and spring are what hold the bearing from falling out of the steering shaft. now im sure you can do this a few ways. so like i said befor i have a 71 K10 the last ouner installed a 3" body lift. i installed a flaming river shaft and u joints. no more rag joint. and just like the pic you just posted i took the spring from my parts truck and my problem was fixed. thanx again to this site
