69-72 trim

I'm looking at buying lower trim for my truck, I have seen lmc trim and wasn't pleased with it. I've heard good things about mar-k but I'm curious if anyone has used classic industries?

Thanks

Re: 69-72 trim

Anyone? Mar-k is about $400 more for upper and lower is it worth it? Or should I go with classic industries?

I bought and installed Mar-K on my lower trim. I am happy with the quality.

If you buy a complete set from Brothers Trucks, it will drop ship from MAR-K and it's cheaper than buying directly from Mar-K.

Re: 69-72 trim

Ekliptix thanks for the input! What color green is that? Looks great!

72cheyenne454 do you know this for sure?

Thanks for the input. My truck did not have trim originally, I'm debating drilling holes for trim before it goes to paint, I've seen some people do it before and some after, and some say to use adhesive clips.
Which manufactures use adhesive clips? And how do they hold up?

Thanks

Re: 69-72 trim

Earlier this week I ordered a complete set, upper and lower trim for my 72 from Brothers. Jamie (sales rep) from Brothers assured me the trim would drop ship from Mar-K to my door. In fact, he even verified the Mar-K part numbers with me. I requested upper & lower trim for a 69/70yr, as they come with all bolt on metal clips, which is what I wanted. The 71/72 set comes with a combo of bolt on clips and adhesive clips. Check Mar-K's website for the part numbers you need, then call Brothers to verify they're ordering the right kit for you. Basically, Jamie from Brothers told me that as long as a complete kit is being ordered, it will come from Mar-K. If you don't buy a complete kit, or if Brothers pieces a kit together for you, you may, or may not get Mar-K product. Also, I had a complete set of upper/lower trim off another truck, so I drilled all my holes prior to paint. Safer doing it this way in my opinion, but it can be done after.

Re: 69-72 trim

One more thing I forgot to mention... I've read several post on this forum indicating the aftermarket adhesive clips tend hold the trim away from the body in some cases, creating a gap between the trim and body. I don't know if this varies by manufacture, or not. I've read some have bought new clips, removed the thick adhesive tape and then applied new, thinner 3M adhesive tape to the clips to avoid this gap. Again, no first hand experience with this, just what I've read. Do a search and you'll find a few post. This is the reason I pre-drilled all my holes prior to paint and went with the bolt in/push in clips original to the 69/70 model yr.

Re: 69-72 trim

I can verify that the stick on clips from LMC do tend to allow the trim not to set close to the body. I used them on my 72 and I need to try to replace the tape and see if that fixes it.

I did my fenders after paint. It can be done, but if you screw it up, it's a lot more expensive to fix it than before it is painted.

I may be asking you guys pretty please for some pieces of your old trim if you can part with it. I am staying patina for now and I am missing just 3 pieces.
