Re: ottawa build 72 longhorn

I don't know about 1972, but in earlier years it would have been a GMC 920 on the side.

Re: ottawa build 72 longhorn

My 71 says custom 1500 and my 72 says Sierra grande 1500 so I'm thinking yours should say whatever it is 2500. I think the 910-920 thing stopped in 68. But not sure.

I think 69 was the last year for the Canadian emblems.

Nice looking Longhorn Bob and as a footnote your truck was built in Oshawa, Ontario not Ottawa ,Ontario. They are no automobile plants in Ottawa as it's the Capital of Canada. If the spid says Mandatory Canadian Base equipment the truck was sold new in Canada. From what I understand the GMC's didn't have the Longhorn scripts on the box.

I believe this to be correct. 70 and up used the same badging as the US models.

For the 1970 model year you could go to a Pontiac dealer in Canada and buy a Catalina or a Parisienne, for example, so that seems to be the cutover year. Makes sense it'd be about the same for trucks.

Re: ottawa build 72 longhorn

Very nice truck you have there! GMC longhorns were never badged as a Longhorn. I think if it was a 3/4 ton it would of had 2500 badges but I haven't ever had a GMC Longhorn personally.

right on, you never have to worry about any truck I have getting cut down or lowered. want to keep them as close to factory as can get.
