Question What driveshaft needed?

Ok i have done some searches on here and haven't found exactly what i needed to know. OK i have a '71 long bed with a 350 and a 3 speed. going with newer 350 votec heads and TBI with 700r4. Is there a driveshaft i should start with thats one piece that would be close to being right, little or no modifications? out of a tahoe or sub?

I know a couple of local guys who are trying 1 piece shafts in longbeds but so far no luck just broken parts and a vibration thats kinda like an old ridged frame Harley.

Just curious but by not keep your 2 piece. I am putting in a rebuilt 700r4 when I get the down time. My local drive shaft shop said they would cut it down for me for lees than $50. I want to find another fron shaft so I can keep the turbo 350 as a spare.

Thumbs up driveshaft

if you read past articles,i asked about the 1 piece,as i have a 2 piece also......when you change out the tranny with the the 700r4, trl it to a driveshaft specialist and let them take the proper measurements, but you will have to notch the chassis where the carriar bearing is...........3 1/2 aluminum shaft w/ 700 yoke and new u-joints in springfield, roughly 250 bucks, this is the setup i'm going with, 1 piece shaft and 700r4.........

Pretty sure the 700r4 and turbo 350 yoke are the same. The price quoted was for cutting down my old drive shaft and re-using the yoke. Why would the carrier bearing need to be moved?
Thanks

ummm dont know if this helps, but i have a saginaw 4 speed and put a 1 piece in today out of a 73 chevy. it is a tad short, but i drove it to school at 65 and sounded GREAT. no more freaking carrier bearing rattle/squeak/noise. I was soooo happy

The 700R4 is the same length as a T350 with 9" tailshaft housing such as the ones found on '73-'81 longbed pickups. A shaft from one of those might be close. I think they're just shy of 71" from center to center of the U-joints.
