Transmission Swap

I have a 1970 C10 Short Wide. It has a (1994) 350 with Turbo 400 auto transmission with manual valve body. I'm not a big fan of having manual shifting and was curious what auto transmission you guys would suggest to swap to or would you just suggest rebuilding the one I currently have?

I drive about 10 miles on highway to work every day.

Re: Transmission Swap

A good many guys will say swap to an overdrive trans for fuel savings but i say if you have a t400 its hard to beat. It's the toughest auto trans gm ever built. I'd get rid of the manual valve body and do a proper rebuild on it and enjoy the simplicity and strength of that T400.

Re: Transmission Swap

I just recently swapped a TH350c into mine, when I bought it, it had a 2speed PG and I hated that thing, it had to rev too high to get into second and rpms were too high. when I dove the truck with the TH350c it was like driving a whole new peppy machine.... I also drive about 10-11 miles on the high way to work everyday and I have no complaints with the 3 speed, now if my pocket book would let me (and my wife) I would go with a 700r4 but need to buy a few more scratch offs for those hopes....
