Fuel Tank Plumbing
So I have set in my new fuel tank for my 70 c10 in the rear of the frame. I used 49-52 chevy steel fuel tank from Tanks Inc. Now it's time to start plumbing it all the way to the front but I have never done this before. Is there anyway that somebody can help me out or point me to somewhere online that will help me with this. I can attach pictures if need be and below I will put a parts list of the tank and fuel lines that I have to do this job. Thanks in advance for the help.

Well you need a tubing bender, a flaring tool (fuel fittings are double flare right?) and some retaining/mounting clips at the very least. I'd recommend picking up at least one coupler that is the same threads as the flare nuts in the tubing kit as well. Being able to make the line in 2 or 3 smaller pieces instead of one continuous piece will make things easier. In fact, make it 3 pieces. Make the complicated and bendy front and rear first, then just make the straight piece in the middle to connect them. Fairly straightforward. I've done a few brake and transmission lines, will get a chance to do fuel on my truck eventually. Also do lots of copper tubing with work and I find it fun routing it. If you're concerned about wasting tubing maybe pickup some copper tubing from the hardware store to practice bends or even make templates and try pieces with.
The only thing you really need to worry about is going from the frame rail to the engine. I'm not really sure what the factory or anyone else does here as far as bends to alleviate stress on the line besides going with a flexible line. Last edited by Overdriven; 11-16-2016 at 01:09 AM. |

compression fittings work fine for fuel line , so does copper tubing
