glove box blues *pics

ok, so woo hoo my stuff came in. (had to get that out of the way)
funny how you are able to quantify dollars for stuff.

one of my new things is as you can guess by the title a glove box, well, an inner glove box. with that came an odd problem. pics and text below:

here we have my new inner dash with the sticker that says 73-87 w/ air. i bought this one because i have a 77 with air. see? i'm a smart monkey... or so i thought.

here is my current box. heh, box. as you can see, needs to be replaced. looking over to the right you can see where i am going to have problems. it gets dark, so use the box latch as the reference. somethin' ain't right.

matching it up, it definitely ain't right. hey WTF is that black metal plate? is it stock? i dunno, i imagine so. behind it is some factory looking a/c looking shiz.

ok, so here is a better look at the black sheetmetal thing and offers a peek at the thing behind it. oh btw, if i am getting too technical for anyone let me know.

a bonus peek behind the mystery entrenched black sheetmetal thing. couldn't get the best angle, but still.

so what am i missing? i think i ordered the right part, for my factory AC 77 p/u.

as always all help is appreciated

scott

Scott, you have what appears to be non-factory A/C installed in your truck. The old 76 I had had aftermarket AC and a similar looking glove box mod...

Can you post a pic of your heater/AC controls?

The "new" glovebox liner you have is correct for factory AC trucks...so something is definately non-factory about your setup.

More than likely the aftermarket kit came with that divider piece to make it work...both of ours look identical, that is why I say that.

That would be an aftermarket A/C setup. All of the ones I have seen have that divider added to the glove box on the opposite side as the factory being on the left.

Here are the controls that were in the 76...

I kept them and they look a little better than yours. If you want to buy mine, you can have them (plus the dash ducts) for $15 shipped to your door.

Right on Jeff, I'll keep that in mind, I may be interested assuming I don't yank the AC out.

now i just gotta figure out how to get my glovebox workinng. i am thinking that i will prolly send back the one made for factory AC and get a non AC one from the junk yard and mod that.
