Is there an easy way to tell the difference between a repop tailgate and an OEM tailgate on a 72? Thanks guys!

Don't know, but the factory ones have pretty consistent spot/tack welds, I wonder if they're different on the repros?

First the weight, REPOP is about 10 lbs lighter due to thin sheet metal. If they are mounted for a while, majority will bow in the middle. Also, look for "Key Parts" tag/label behind handle.
Mid 2000's, TriPlus start manufacturing a gate that weight/look same as OE and was really tough. Hard to figure that on out.

Anyone have close up pictures of spot welds etc...? I'm just starting to do body work so thought I would verify exactly what I have.

Upper left side of my tailgate. Three little dents, think you can see them. Also have horizontal spot welds in the recessed area above the tailgate band. And 3 more verticals on the right side.

I used to think I had a repop tailgate because I had so many spot welds.

But now think it is OEM.
