Transmission Shop Referral

I need a 700r4. I live in Chico CA. There is not a good transmission shop here that I know of to have a tranny built. My options are Sacramento area or on-line. Any referrals out there?

ATO Performance Transmission Operations out of Rancho Cordova is who I plan on going with for my 700r4 when the time comes. They came highly recommended to me from multiple people I've met that are into different racing scenes drag, drift, autocross, rock crawling.

Re: Transmission Shop Referral

I got my 700R and torque converter from Phoenix Transmission located in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. They shipped it to my buddy's shop. It has worked like a hoss! One of the tranny experts on the drivetrain board recommended them. http://www.phoenixtrans.com

I was originally looking at them and Bow Tie Overdrives. I was hoping to find a local shop for warranty if I ever needed it.

Re: Transmission Shop Referral

My original plan was to find a good core locally and have my buddy build it but after looking for several months, I could not find a later model core for a decent price. The junk yards around Memphis, TN claimed that the ones they had were "good transmissions" that were ready to bolt on and go ($500 and up for a used transmission-no thanks!). I finally gave up and ordered mine (including 2800 stall converter and cooler) from Greg at Phoenix a year and a half ago for $1992 including shipping and a 50,000 mile warranty. That high stall converter made a big difference in making my truck get up and go and the transmission shifts like a dream. You oughta give Greg a call @ Phoenix and see what he will do for you. 817-599-7680

I called today. About $2200 for tranny, stall converter and TV cable plus shipping. 3 yr 50k. The warranty seemed sketchy with Bow Tie Overdrives.

Re: Transmission Shop Referral

Is there anybody with good experience in MN, south of the river near Lakeville. I have a 1970 350/350, and I have acquired a spare 200-4r. I like to have it rebuilt and installed to the 350CID.

Re: Transmission Shop Referral

Kevin I know its a ways away, but I have been very happy with TSI in Brooklyn Park. They rebuilt the 350 tranny in my chevelle a couple of years ago and it has served me well so far with no issues. I just had them do the rear-end in my c10. We put in a posi carrier and all new parts, with 373 gears. Unfortunately, I haven't driven the truck yet, but hope to have it going in the spring. If you call TSI talk to Chris. Good luck!
