old windshield
Is an old windshield needing to just go in the trash? I have my original one with no pits or cracks, but it does have the small amount of haze on lower edge. Would anybody want that? It is from my 1969 CST/10.

I have given a couple of them away. I put one on Craigslist with a good picture of the haze (not real bad) and a guy called and said that mine was a lot better than his and he would really like to have it. He drove 24 miles to get it.... LockDoc

If closer I'd take that in a second.

If no one else has called dibs, I'd be interested. Where in DFW are you?

Re: old windshield
That's still a decent part and no decent part should ever need to be tossed out. There is always someone to take it for free even if you can't sell it. And, yeah, that's better than mine. I want to stay Soft Ray if at all possible and there are many others who would as well.

Re: old windshield
OK, sounds good. I will reply to the PM's and inquiries in the order I received them, and we can consider this windshield to have a new home.

Re: old windshield
I gave my old one to the guy at the salvage yard that had some trucks, he was glad to get it.

Re: old windshield
I tried to give away two, one NEW and one used, to no avail (local only). I put on safety glasses, stuck them in the glass recycle bin, and smashed them both with a hammer. Sucked to do it, but no one wanted them, I didn't need them, they're big to store, uncommonly needed, and inexpensive to replace. A perfect recipe for "throw it away if no one wants it".

Re: old windshield
I suppose it depends on what area of the country you are in and where you post the ad. I bought the premium membership here so I could ask questions about parts and buy parts from other members, so I figured I would do the reverse and offer parts, although I don't have many to offer because I just have the one truck.
Thanks everybody for your interest and information. I'm afraid this windshield is now spoken for and has a new home. |
