Option tag location
Where would I find the option codes on a '61? I'm looking at an apache 30, but I couldn't find anyplace that would tell me what it originally came with.

1966 was the first year for the option list decal that was affixed to the back side of the glovebox door.

i havent found anything to do with options on my 60, ive been in just about every nook an cranny in it an have not seen anything..did they have options back then....most trucks back then were bought to work not just for transportation...

My 63 also has a metal tag riveted on drivers kick panel by the vent door.

the 1960 models have 2 pages of listings of FOA'S, RPO'S, & LPO'S =options including signals, heaters, axle's, running boards, fenders, mirrors, brake booster, bumpers, hd suspensions, clutches, tires, seats, tach, trans, spare tire mnt, hyd. steering, gen.,amp. meter, tire pump &jack, big/small window, even a tow hook option. i will try to get this scanned to post for you. the book is great reference including where the spot rivets are for all the body parts, & assembly order of the parts. someome has them on all the time on ebay-car-truck-parts. he has them on auction as well as a store selling them all the time. it was item# 2464663448 for 60-66 models chevy truck factory ass. manual.mine was $30. i know alot of vehicles have parts/assembly list stuck under upholstery. have a good one jw

All trucks from the 40s - 70s (and probably other years) had the metal tag that is being referred to. It is a model identification tag showing model # and GVW #s. The option codes that bpmcgee is talking about identified optional equipment that was added to the truck from the factory. It was for service referrence. 66 was the first year these were used. Here is a picture of one in a 72 model:
