rear bounce
I have lowered my truck 5" with 3" coil springs & 2" blocks. I have relocated the shocks. New shocks. I still have a bounce in the rear end. Almost like no shocks. Any ideas?
Thanks, Lynn |

Re: rear bounce
do you have the shocks as vertical as possible? if close as a 45 degree angle you won't get much travel on the shocks..

Re: rear bounce
I used the CPP shock relocation kit. They are a lot better than they were, but no, not vertical.

Re: rear bounce
If all else fails a couple bags of concrete in the bed will smooth out your ride.

Re: rear bounce
Try a different shock relocation kit? CCP kit moves them forward while the No Limit kit moves them to the rear.

Re: rear bounce
I have standard length shocks. I was under the impression stock shocks could be used. Did I assume wrong?

Re: rear bounce
CPP supplied shock #4095G with their 4" spring kit. Came in a CPP box.

Re: rear bounce
I was able to measure the angle of my shocks. They are leaning 15 degrees forward and 15 degrees inside at the top. What angle is too much?

Re: rear bounce
Lynn, my '71 GMC has 4" springs, 1" lowering block, shock relocators, shocks, & adj. panhard.... all CPP. I think it feels bouncy in the rear at Interstate speed. Particularly on concrete overpasses with expansion joints. Usually has no weight in the bed. I wonder if it's due to a combination of spring rate and shock valving. The front has 2.5" dropped spindles w/1 coil cut. The bounce bothered me worse a couple of years ago when I first changed the parts but I think i got used to it. Feels better now.

I guess it will have to live with the bounce.

Re: rear bounce
Use a shorter shock. Probably almost bottomed out and wont valve correctly that way. Im using fronts in the rear as others had on here.

Re: rear bounce
You likely installed them upside down. Remember these shocks don't have dust shields. The exposed rod goes to the top not bottom.

Re: rear bounce
did you purchase for rear? Front shocks have different dampening specifications.

Re: rear bounce
My truck is a leaf truck, but I have stock length front shocks all the way around. Relocated upper mount to unused second hole in OEM mount and have no issues with bounce so I think issue isn't that.

Re: rear bounce
I have rear shocks on rear of truck. Front is not a problem. I have shocks mounted correctly, dust cover up.
