Stock appearing engine bays...

I am trying to decide the way to go on my engine bay. I was wanting to see you guys stock appearing engines please. I am thinking that would be the right look for our shop truck. Nothing against the billet and shiney stuff, just not the vibe we are looking for on this one. Thanks, Fred.

Re: Stock appearing engine bays...

Mine is "Stock-ish" - I went with an aluminum radiator, and a CPP brake booster/master cylinder, an HEI distributor, and I'll be putting in Vintage air soon. I'll also be modifying the upper radiator mounts to better align the radiator. Otherwise it's mostly original.

Like you, I'm of the mind "Chrome don't get ya home".
Mine, in progress. Still need to add the air cleaner sticker and valve cover sticker.

Before (stock 350)

402 big block getting painted. Edelbrock heads, comp cam, intake.

Need to hook up the AC again. Change the plug wires to black. Change the oil breather to whatever stock is.

Re: Stock appearing engine bays...

Here's (hopefully) pictures of my 69 GMC with 350 sbc. This was a Canadian -built truck. The aircleaner sticker is missing, and the glass sediment bowl in the fuel line is not stock. Also, the orig owner added an overflow tank for the coolant. This is a very basic truck, with no power brakes, no power steering. Also note the battery cut switch.

Re: Stock appearing engine bays...

In the 90's there were LT1's, which were popular and now are dated. Now its LS engines, witch one day will be dated. I'm not trying to put down anyones ride, thats not the point. Trends come and go, one thing you can count on is.... Vehicles in stock form will never go out of style. You can count on that.

Just think: 1970's van with mag wheels. Nuff said!

Smile Re: Stock appearing engine bays...

Here is mine....fairly stock except for the headers....and missing the 'Keep your Truck all GM' sticker on the air cleaner in this pic.
There are a few updates I would add a little further down the line like a dual snorkel air cleaner perhaps....but I like the stock look.
Chrome and aluminum highlights have been beaten to death for over 1/2 century and I think are often way past their due date, at least for me.
What gets me now is a performance engine 'disguised' to look stock.
Midniteblues LS engine (previous pics) is an excellent example of some premium detailing while getting the drivetrain upgraded....very nice, very original and a great 'hoods up' engine bay.

All Good
