Re: How do I take my bed off🤔

8 bolts hold the bed to the frame. Might need to remove the rear bumper for better access also. Unplug the taillight harness and lift off. I removed mine with the help of 3 other guys. I put it back on with a forklift. Good Luck.

Re: How do I take my bed off🤔

I just took mine off. mines a shortbed so it was probably a little easier. 8 bolts and I took off the bumper and the rear wheels so I didn't have to lift it as high. I used my engine hoist and took it off by myself

Took mine off myself. Very easy. Made a "H" style bracket out of old 2X4's and lifted off with my tractor.

Re: How do I take my bed off🤔

I lifted mine with a 2x4 frame for the the bed and an
engine hoist with a piece of 2" angle iron to extend the arm.
I cut my bolts off and bought new ones because the old
ones were so seized up they would round off the square
hole in the bed.

Re: How do I take my bed off

Someone wrote on here before to use a step drill bit and drill down through those eight carriage bolt heads in the bed. (not all bolts; I think most of the ones that hold the fenderwells to the bed don't go through the frame)..

I assume this method is because the access is easier and you aren't lying on your back and trying to hold a grinder up in the chassis and overhead.

Re: How do I take my bed off🤔

It's all common sense. Bolts have a head on one side and nuts on the other. Look in your bed and count the bolt heads. That's how many bolts hold your bed on. You have to unbolt all of those. The tail lights are in the bed and wiring connects them to the fuse box, so you need to disconnect the harness. Look up under the rear of the frame and you will see where the harness disconnects. The bumper is very close, so it's best to have than off the truck

Re: How do I take my bed off

it is a lot easier to grind off the heads of the bolts rather than tryin to lossen and take off the nuts // tou'll do a lot less damage to your bed by grinding the heads off

the bolts are dirt cheap regular carriage bolts available at any hardware STORE

Yes there is. It's a Bendpak MD-6XP mid-rise portable scissor lift. I have 10' ceilings in that part of my barn, so it's perfect. I can get the truck roof within a couple of inches of the ceiling at full lift height. I love it.

Re: How do I take my bed off🤔

WD/40, a wrench and pull the rear wire boot connector. I believe there's a ground wire as well.

SWB is light with four decent backs, and a LWB can't be more than another 40-50 lbs I'm guessing. Tailgate is a consideration. Them dudes are heavy.

Re: How do I take my bed off🤔

The bolts everyone are talking about grinding the heads of off are the eight large carriage bolts which are located along the frame line.

Here is a pic of the location for SWB wood beds. Steel beds are similar.
