69 project build.

Well my wife and I decided to start this project. It is a 69 C-20 that's on it's way to becoming a shortbed. Picked up a 72 long bed frame. I wanted 5 lug as opposed to 8. Plus doing it this way I don't have to worry about storing the cab and bed anywhere. I'll just move it over when it comes time. Wife wanted to learn how to work on cars. Today consisted of removing the front bed mounts, and rear cab mounts. We didn't get as far as we hoped, but that was due to the rain. Assuming we get all the prep work done, next weekend consists of cutting and welding the frame back together at a buddy's shop.

Front bed mounts removed. Driveline removed, fuel/brake lines removed. One cab mount removed. The other is being stubborn, but its halfway there. I ran out of daylight.

Re: 69 project build.

yes 5 lug. They are 15 inch. Just put them on for mock up so we could roll things in place. End goal will be 20 inch. The frame is a 72, but it has the disc brakes and the 12 bolt rear end it. The frame the truck is under now is a 14 bolt with 8 lug drums.

Re: 69 project build.

Looking good so far. What's your plan for bedsides with that shortbed conversion? I am just finishing up a shortbed conversion and I love peoples' reaction when I tell them what was involved in the process. You cut your truck in half!?

Re: 69 project build.

Ideally, I'd like to find a short box at a decent price. That being said, I'll probably cut everything down because I don't feel like spending 2200 for a new bed LOL.

Re: 69 project build.

Well frame is all back together and back home. Next will come tearing everything down, painting frame and replacing parts.
