converting a 70 to throttle cable

Since I am installing an LS engine in my 70, I need to convert it to a throttle cable setup-I bought a pedal for a 72 off Ebay, but the mounting is diff.
I thought about using one off a car, cut the arm off that conns to the cable, and weld it onto the stock pedal (once I fig the right location), then cut the arm off that sticks outside.
Prob use a cable off a van (that's what I used on my Buick) cut a hole in the firewall and snap it in.
Curious what you guys are using when converting to an LS engine
