Rockets 66 build
Hey guys, new to the forum and figured I would share my build that I have been working on for a couple years. I started out with a 63 GMC LWB c10. I really wanted a Chevrolet but this was close and cheap so I snagged it. Found out why it was so cheap.... the floors were ruined! A year later I came acrossed a 65 Chevrolet so I decided to build the GMC frame then just swap bodies later when I had the rolling chassis done. Here are some progress pics

Re: My 63/65 build
Nice work so far. That light blue 65 has a 66 front fender badge, are you sure its a 65?

Look at the vin number to be sure. Look at the 5th digit, 5 will be a 65, 6 will be a 66. The picture looks like a long bed, so the first part of the vin would be: C154(5 or 6)....

Re: My 63/65 build
I do a lot of Google searching to get ideas then go from there. Most my fabrication came from building demolition derby cars for many years.

Re: My 63/65 build
Looking good. I would love to have a lift in my shop. Just not in the budget right now.

Re: My 63/65 build
Once you have one, you'll never work on another vehicle without it. The dealer i work for was updating all the old and out dated equipment so i got mine for next to nothing... i would have bought a new one because they are well worth the cost though

Re: My 63/65 build
like I mentioned, I've been working on this truck off and on for about two years. Im searching for all the older build pictures to post but in the meantime I'll be posting my current battles
I pretty much have my frame ready to disassemble, fully weld everything, and powder coat more pics to come

Re: My 63/65 build
Got the CPP rear disk conversion on. This truck had the Dana 44 rear end so I had to modify the mounting brackets a little but got it to work.
Another shot of the body on for mock up

Re: My 63/65 build
Thanks for the pics of the mounts. I am starting mine now.
Looking good. Any reason you went two link rather than four (or three)?
