Pulling front end?

Hey guys need some insight. I'm going to the wrecking yard this weekend to pull a doghouse for my 98 k2500 diesel off a 96 suburban. Any idea what I'll need to pull it? I'm taking literally from the cab forward. Radiator core support etc. I've done many square body but the obs bodystyle is new to me.

hopefully someone else can answer better but my 1990 when i wrecked it like 7 yearrs ago you pretty much just needed a ratchet and a 1/2 and 9/16ths socket and extensions to get the majority of the bolts off.

you also have two big body mount bolts going through the core support, i think its 3/4 inch bolts but not sure. but its a nut and bolt combo so make sure you bring some box end wrenches.

so i would think if you brought a good socket set with a nice selection of box end wrenches you will do fine.

just seen your from indiana, so expect rust and bring a pair of vise grips as some of the welded nuts that the bolts go through are likely to snap and spin

Yea that's why I'm get this front clip. Mine has the fender flares and behind them it's complete rust. This suburban looks good...I planned on taking my impact and socket set. I plan on picking up a set of metric wrenches. Figure 98 it'll be metric.

The easiest way I found to get the body mount bolts for the rad support out was a 15MM socket on a breaker bar above and 18MM deep socket on a 1/2" ratchet below. Don't skimp on the WD40/PB Blaster.

Most of the rest are smaller bolts and wiring clips. You will spend more time removing stuff from the inner fenders than anything else.

A decent socket set and screwdrivers will do most of it. A good cordless drill or impact will make it go quicker.

Awesome. So it shouldn't be too bad. The ones on my rust loved 98 the only thing that even looks solid is the core support... Almost like it's been replaced before... Anyway glad to know most common tools will get it.
