This one's for the audio guru's cause i know nothing about them. I put in my bucket seats now i'm building a custom center console. I was thinking of putting 2 8 inch subs in it with one facing the drivers feet and the other facing the passengers feet. The box will be 10 inches wide. My question is what is the depth on 8 inch speakers. will i be able to do this or will they be too deep where they won't fit. anybody got any ideas on that? thanks in advance

every sub is different. you should be able to find the specs on the box, or if you are using a fairly name brand sub, crutchfield.com should have the dimensions. i would worry about having the magnets that close to eachother. i would think that it would create some wierd magnetic field... or distortion at least. i dunno.

I have about 25 years in the stereo business! I'd fire the subs at the floor with a vent on each side with a couple inches between the sub and the floor!

Hope this helps

It will sound much better than if you fire 1 sub to the left and 1 to the right!

what do you mean "fire the subs at the floor"? do you mean point the speakers so they aim at the floor? or point them so they are facing upwards? or are you saying put the speakers under the seats? hmmmm

The speaker is pointing at the floor in between the buckets!

Te hump by the rear wall will hold it up so it will be on a angle!

Then you can build a consol on top of the box! cup holders or what ever u fancy!

Fiberglass it all up so it is nice and smooth right to the dash if you want!

67chevemall you read my mind. thats exactly what i plan on doing. I went and talked to a local audio shop today and they said the same about aiming the speaker at the floor and putting about 2-3 inches of air space underneath it. I was trying to figure out how to do it but I think thats what i'm gonna do. I'm gonna build the speaker box then build a frame around it made out of light metal rods. (almost like electric fence post) I well bend and weldthe frame together around it, although i haven't figured out how i'm gonna attach the box to the skeleton. I then will wrap the hole thing in fiberglass then bondo over the top of it to smooth it out. The only thing i'm worried about is the bondo cracking wether it be from the bass hitting or the sun cracking it.
