opinions wanted-- new speaker location

okay, i thought that some of you guys might like this. especially the non factory air guys. i had been kicking around in my head, as to what would be a good location to put front speakers. i have always liked the 4 speaker factory type systems, that are in later model cars and trucks. lots of mellow sound without all the panel buzz, of the over powered aftermarket stuff. anyway to keep from going to long, here it goes. i took some measurements and got on a popular internet auction sight and searched for speaker grills. i came across a chinese vendor that sold round speaker grills in various metric sizes. i got on google to convert to the closest non metric size . ( i cant remember the actual millimeter size.) and i ordered these. it took 4 weeks to get them, i think they were about a buck apiece.

Re: opinions wanted-- new speaker location

and here is what they look like installed.
if you dont have factory air, you can drill the holes and just add them on and put what ever speaker you desire back there. there is more room than you might think. and if you have factory air like me you will need to modify your duct work. which was in the plan anyway. what do you guys think?

I think these are a great idea for a non A/C truck.

I think they look great. What's your plans for rerouting your a/c ductwork?

old blue k20
i havent finished working that out yet. i am thinking that i saw some old camaro or firebird vents that came out from under the dash below the steering column and glove box. something of that nature, but i will need to look into that at at a later time. i am still working on the main body of the dash and stuff.
my truck has a long way to go yet and a lot of these details to finish.
thanks for checking out my post.

Re: opinions wanted-- new speaker location

Looks great, but personally I would not molest my non A/C dash.

I placed a motorcycle sound system under my seat, and it sounds good. No real bass, but it drowns out the 47yo rattles.

I guess I should look into all those rattles and quiet the old truck up a bit.

When you get to re-routing your duct work, please post pictures of that also.

I totally agree with this. I rarely listen to the radio and would rather hear my engine any day.
Nice job on the speaker installation though. They look good!

i thank you for the offer but i am not quite ready to tackle those yet. the speaker covers were just something that occured to me, and i kinda got side tracked doing them. for now i have to stay focused on getting the nessessary stuff done to get the truck back together. i will keep that in mind though and thanks.
