Which Headers? 3spd on the tree PS,PB
Okay, I am finally going to replace my cracked old manifolds and am looking at headers... Its a 350 with a 4bl outta 73-75 whoknows what... I am not looking to make big power or a lotta noise... Wjat headers do you have and how do you like them? This is a low buck deal so those pretty ceramic coated jobberdos and a set of flowmasters are out!!! I am looking for something that fits, I had seen the chevelle thread earlier but am unable to search for it and spent the last half hour looking, so if you can help, also I see Hedman has some shortys as well...
Also if you know of a good exhaust kit that fits decent let me know... ENuff of these cracked manifolds and blown out glasspacks and the popping as I coast... I do sorta like how dogs, women and children scurrying when they hear me coming though!!! If you have a recomendation and a pic as well I'd really appreciate it, Thanks Gary Last edited by Gary Lee; 03-07-2005 at 04:52 PM. Reason: non typer |

your best bet is to get some shorty center dump headers. The traditional long tubes are a tough fit around the Z link for your clutch, trust me, I've tried!! I just went with center dump manifolds on my 350 / 3 spd combo and saved any headaches

do you mean the street rod block hugger headers? If so, I was wondering a recomendation or experiences good or bad someone has had... I see Hedman, hooker, and even summit racing has em... are these the ones?
I need to get these ordered and get this done... its killing me.... |

I dont think the block huggers will clear the eng mount stands on the truck. unless you go Sandersen(big bucks tho). a full lenght set that should fit either I 6 or factory sb location are Hooker comps. I run a # 2452 (painted) on my longhorn (383 mounted in I 6 position). for a bit cheaper set , Hedman 69092's will fit the stick truck in factory sb position, or go 69090 if you are in I6 position with the sb. Best of luck, 69L

what about these?
So should I go with the full length or the block huggers? My truck was a 307 v8 truck from the factory and has a set of cracked ram horn manifolds on it now... I want to keep the 3 on the tree for now... and am wondering about shifter and clutch problems... so the block huggers look good to stay away from that but am not sure about the full lengths, but full lengths are easir to set up an exhaust on... I am not sure here.... HELP

Cool, I'll look at them. I had ram's horns all wrong, I guess. I thought that meant OEM style. How do they sound?
I appreciate the reply. I only have 1 post, but I've been learning stuff, on the site, since November. The search is so good; I keep forgetting to say hi. |
