Horn button gasket
Does any of our vendors sell these? GMCPauls or anyone? I'm looking for the gasket that wedges underneath horn button and the factory wheel.
Thanks |

I'm thinking you mean the horn button retainer. There is no gasket. A little more information would help as to what year of truck. '67 & '68 are the only two years that used the rubber horn cap retainer. The '69-'72 horn cap had the retainer clips built in to the cap. Here is the rubber retainer for the '67 & '68. http://www.classicparts.com/1960-68-.../#.WW54jN3VqAg LockDoc

Re: Horn button gasket
I have a 72. Underneath the center horn is a black gasket foam that is like a cushion or gasket. It's from fitting as well.

Re: Horn button gasket
Thanks. I will have to look at the ones I have to see if any of them have that. If a guy had some thin foam sheet it shouldn't be to hard to make. I have never see one in any of the parts catalogs.

Re: Horn button gasket
I've been wondering about these gaskets as to whether or not these are OEM. I believe LMC has these listed, I know I purchased an aftermarket example several years ago. Here's one that was in place when I removed the steering wheel from a blazer I'm currently restoring: it's basically a survivor truck that wasn't altered save for a repaint and set of headers.

Re: Horn button gasket
Ahhh.. Yep thats the one! I havent found that in the LMC catalogue. I will check their site
But as you said, I wonder if this was factory. I will also check in the build install pdf from the factory to see if anything is in there. |

Re: Horn button gasket
Sure enough. Page 692 seal-horn button cap CA-KA105 Granted that is for a 69 wheel. I didnt find anything on the 70-72 models in the book. But it looks like they were in there at one point in time

Re: Horn button gasket
Huh - just to clarify, the GM assembly manual shows a horn button gasket?

Re: Horn button gasket
Take it back to the dealer and demand one!
My 72 k1500 doesn't have one and it too is unmolested.
