Power Steering pump woes
So on a 70 C-10, my P/S pump has crapped out. Every single place I go or check online doesn't have the right pump. The fitting in the back points in the wrong direction. Or the reservoir is the larger one with more of an integrated look, rather than the original one that has a top on it more like a wide snorkel. I think it's called a Saginaw type. I installed the new one and now it's offset from the crankshaft pulley by about 3/4 of a belt width.
Does ANYBODY know where I can pick up a new (rebuild from Thailand??) original style pump for this thing?! I've fought too long with it and I'm almost out of booze. Help! |

Re: Power Steering pump woes
Get a bare pump and put your res on it. Make sure the pully mounts the same.

Re: Power Steering pump woes
Yup. This. No need to replace your reservoir unless it is damaged somehow.

Re: Power Steering pump woes
Hard to locate complete Chimany style pumps in a parts store anymore. The last one I rebuilt: bought the pump, pulled the resivor off the back of old one, cleaned it up, sealed it on the new pump. No issues.

Re: Power Steering pump woes
NAPA shows 2 w/o res, and one with.
NNS 84691 NNS 81691 One has a core charge and the other doesn't. No idea how or why people can't go to their local parts store websites and check for common parts. I guess its better to waste a few days on this site, rather than find the part in a few minutes. |
