Where to get screws/bolts for tailgate band
I have a tailgate and a (new to me) tailgate band for an 81-87 truck. What I don't have is the screws or bolts that hold the band to the tailgate. What do I use and where do I get them?
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Where to get screws/bolts for tailgate band
I used some license plate holder hardware on both mine, Just use the screw. The tailgate band should have nut clips already on it.
I liked these screws because most auto parts stores have something similar and the shoulder on the screw does a good job on the inside of the tailgate. Also galvanized, no rust.

Re: Where to get screws/bolts for tailgate band
I just got the band and it's not where I can take a look at it, but there are no bolts or screws with it. I spent a lot of time googling last night and never could find anything. 3m tape is a last resort, but I'll try the license plate fasteners. I wasn't sure how short or long the fasteners need to be.

I went to Tractor Supply and bought 4 speed nuts, that just clip on the back of the band and then bought a small package of bolts for them. Worked easy peasy. I had about decided to sell it because it's in pretty good shape but the wife preferred the look of it on the truck. Gotta pick your battles.
I just bought the truck. Lots of little things to do with it. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...psw7xs0lif.jpg |
