When I was at Pick & Pull yesterday, there was a C10 (it was either a 75 or 76) with a 4bbl Q-Jet on it. The carb didn't look too bad. I'm going to go back in a day or two. If it's still there, should I pick it up? I think they get like $50 for carb's.
How easy would it be to put new gaskets in it and whatever else it'll need?

What, don't like your edelbrock? hehe

You'll need choke provisions, and a typical spreadbore gasket for a q-jet...

Unless you know how to rebuild it and tune it, you will be really dissatisifed with it. This is the biggest reason folks don't like them in the first place. To me, they are real simple to tune and rebuild but I've been doing it for 30 years.

I'm sure with your help, I could do it.

As for me having an Edelbrock..nope, I have a Holley, and my Intake is drilled for both Spreadbore/Squarebore. (It looks like it's more meant for a Spreadbore though)

For a street driven truck the Q-Jet is much better for driveability and it runs much smoother and once its set you don't have to tinker anymore like a holley when the temperature changes.

hell, if Heather can do it, so can Tim. oh wait, we are talking about Tim here... :p

seriously, the QJet will blow the Edelcrock out of the water. not as easy to tune, but once its tuned, its good to go. smaller secondaries will improve fuel economy and throttle response too.
