Insurance

I was just wondering what everyone pays for insurance on their truck, and what company you guys use. I was quoted $69 for 6 months on my 72 C20.

Mine runs about the same, I'm covered through AmPac. But it's only Liability, not full coverage. When you get these things done to a point that it really hurts when they get wrecked, it's time for full coverage. There are a few companies that will cover our old trucks/cars.

WHAT!! I'm paying like 1100 every six months....that's 200 bucks a month! and that's only liability...granted that's in Dallas for a 17 y/o. My friend out in east texas is 50 bucks a month for full coverage on his 98 dually and his dad's 03 dodge. about 90 for the both of them a month...NOT FAIR!!!

OLY HOLY CRAP!!!! Well when I was driving my truck back in high school a few years ago, I was under my fathers god awfull record of 4 dui's and 5 driving with a suspended liscense, 4 accidents, and 3 speeding tickets. then also a felony conviction on ramming his 90 f-150 into my ex step mothers bronco which in turn rammed into the garage of the house she stayed at. but anyways my insurance was at 300 a month for liability only. I had to sell my 83 honda 900, first motorcycle to pay for my insurance down payment.

Cruiser71, that sounds like a pretty good rate, I live in northern california so maybe I can get the same rate. Do you have a half ton or three quarter ton insured? Do they limit your miles?

Almost $100 a month for liability. Being a 19-year old with 3 tickets sure does suck

oh yeah, but explain this to me. I bought a 87 vette also in high school. It costed me only 98 a month??? same policy. I was very confused by this.
edit* back in high school I mean right after I turned 17. saved money working construction for 80 hours a week during the summers, half on the truck half on saving for something else.

If you try to have the truck valued, insurance can kill you.....but try to get them to pay off if it comes to that...

As long as we are talking about insurace...

What do you guys no about classic vehilce insurance? SInce my '72 will most likely not be my only mode of transportation anymore it will be sitting at home and only driven once or twice a month. No point paying almost $100 a month if i'm not going to drive it. I know the classic vehilce thing is cheaper...

I do have a garage now. Don't you have to get the truck apprasied first, and are there any policys that would allow, say 3000 or so miles a year of driving?

My rate with Allstate is good because I have no tickets, no accidents, and its a multi car policy. But, with 4 cars and 3 drivers, my total 6 month policy for FULL coverage is less than $800. every 6 months. That is also with a teenage driver. Ive been with Allstate for almost 20 years. Not gonna change any time soon!

I'm with American National, they have a program called '' CHROME'' for classics. This is a ballpark figure, $200-230 a yr full coverage with agreed value of $10-12 grand. Depending on apprasial (sp) Thats a 7,500 yearly mileage limit. Mine should be in those figures.

I have been with Geiko for 10 years as of next month, and with liability on both my 69 GMC and on the wife's 96 Contour, we pay about 65 bucks a month...no tickets or accidents in the last 3 years. If I left the county it'd drop to 50 bucks.

I have mine with the GREAT AMERICAN INSURANCE COMPANIES.
Full coverage $154/year $50 deductible $20,000 stated amount.
Its not for a daily driver, has limited miles and must be garaged.

I have some of my cars with Great American Collector and my K20s with Continental Collector. Continental would allow me to tow a trailer occasionally. Limited to 2500 miles a year, must be in a garage, must have another daily driver pickup, etc etc. My truck is about 150/year full coverage.

Make sure you shop around. Great American is insuring my ZR1 for around 500/year while Continental wanted 1200/year. They all have their specialties.

I'm with Farm Bureau. Unfortunately my rates when up recently because of a fender bender. Lost my good rate status. But for the 82 and 70 at liability only no driving restrictions, the 02 Bonneville and my 96 are full coverage, it runs me about 850 every 6 months. Unfortunately with I10 and Highway 90 as our main roadways, the MS gulfcoast is a high risk driving area. But with 4 vehicles and 3 drivers, one is 15, it's not too bad. BTW, the 15 year old has to pay her own way, so it doesn't actually cost me that much either.
