LS3 - Manual to Auto?

I may have an opportunity to get a 2010 LS3 tied to its 6 speed manual transmission. It comes with everything from the donor car to do the swap.

Question is, what, if any, issues will I run into if I want to switch it to an automatic? Say a 4l80e.

Thanks,

it can be done...but unless your getting a steal of a deal why not just buy a ls3 with a auto already behind it?..but..your gonna need everything from flex plate back plus a controller for trans and Im not sure what all else...
other than that a engine is a engine..you can put whatever behind it..I went from auto to nv4500 on my ls swap

I have not done a swap such as this but my guess would be that you will need a complete wire harness and PCM for a LS3 with a 4L80E. You would likely get more answers if this was posted in the 'LSx Swaps' section.

Re: LS3 - Manual to Auto?

Thanks Guys,
Little green in regards to the electronics and such. Might better say a LOT green!

And yes....may have a pretty good deal on it. But it's not a good deal if I have to spend a lot on other components to get it done.

It was recommended that I post this here:

It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it for a novice (no disrespect intended). Buy it and resell it and use any money you make to purchase one with and auto transmission.

Thanks Rob. Think I will hold off and do as you suggest. And, none taken..."iron sharpens iron..." Agreed!
