The one you are unsure of looks like a 1957 283 car or truck. My book says no side motor mounts?

Depends on the year, if it is a big block, (distributor in front) There will be a flat spot that has the cubic inches stamped right on there.( next to dist.) Small blocks i don't know cuz they aren't big enough for me. Some also had a # stamped down by the starter. Small block has dist in rear like a chev. Hope this helps.

The one with No side motor mounts could only be a 55,56 265 or 57 283. Very hard to come by and rare and the begining of a long line of fine engines.

Randy, Is that 400 engine still available? If it is, could you get the numers of the front pad? Do you have any clue if it has been bored? If everything works out, I would be going through MO at the end of May, and I could pick it up.
