Front end Swap

Hi All,

I want to convert to disc brakes and install drop spindles. I have a C20 (8 Lug). I was told the best and cheapest way to get this done is to install the front end off of a 73 -87 chevy truck as it will have disc brakes. I found this close by me on craigslist but its from a GMC - does anyone know if this will bolt right up like I've heard it should?

Thanks!

$300 is a bit high. I've bought both a 3/4 ton and a 1/2 ton complete front crossmember and all.
I paid $50 for the 3/4 ton and $100 for the 1/2 ton.

$300 and a bunch of rust? Pass.
Go look at a couple of wrecking yards and find a good donor. Then make the deal.

Re: Front end Swap

Just did this not too long ago on my 62 c20. Had to drill a couple new holes and elongate a couple more, but pretty straightforward. I managed to pick up the complete setup with power steering box for $200 and thought I got a pretty decent deal.

Something to help you along. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=357610 Offer him $100 and see where that goes. It will probably need to be rebuilt anyway.

Glad you posted that...I've been wondering how to go about locating my idler arm and now I know!

Side note...just got back from visiting San Francisco last week, what a great city!

Nice place to visit. Car break ins are terrible. A lot more of it sucks too. Used to be a really great city now kind of sucks to live here.

Re: Front end Swap

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Can I use my stick power steering components if I do this swap or do I have to change that out too?

He went down to $200. I told him I have a tailgate in good shape that he is willing to take and make the price a little cheaper. He really wants all of my all original AC parts...but I'm not willing to part with them.
