heater control repair
i have 3 heater controls and all are broke away in the back, has anyone tried to repair these? can they be re-riveted if i drill them out?

I bought one at a swap meet and it had been repaired by drilling and tapping the cast body and refastening the metal back piece with #6 button head allen screws. I can't provide a picture cause it's back in the dash.

Usually the levers break and you can swap levers. Pop the knob off. There are replacement switches, but the originals are usually just dirty. Cycle them 10 times and they work.

Common problem on these trucks. All of the repairs I have seen have involved drilling through the front face of the controls and using pop rivets or small screws. The cleanest one used black countersunk Philips head screws. I had one broken one on my Burban and got a good lever from a unit with some broken levers and just replaced the bad one I had, so I didn't have to remove the face from the housing. You can pull the pin and change the levers while not haveing to remove the face. Make sure you inspect and lube the cables and heater components so they move easily to prevent future lever failures.

Yup mine were broke when I got the truck. I drilled out a four and Installed stainless philip heat bolts. Easy fix, and only a real perfectionist would ever know the difference.

3 of mine are for parts and they all have screws from front.
