1972 C10 Faux trim molding?

Hello, my brother in law gave my son a truck. Seems to be a 1970-1971 with a 72 VIN Tag. Frame has a 1969 date stamp and the rear view mirror has the holes in the rook for the bracket rather than on the windshield. My other 1972 has no holes there, just the flat spot.

Never the less. It came to my BIL with stickers rather than actual molding. He tried to pull them off the fenders and peeled the paint down to primer as a result. Would love to find these stickers rather than having them on the rest of the truck and not the front fenders.

Classic industries has said they do not know where these came from but are aware of them.

The problem being unlike hard trim companies the aftermarkets change designs frequently so you may have to do a bit of searching to hopefully fine the exact old pattern .Good luck

Those look much better than the cheap Chinese reproduction moldings that most places like LMC sell now.

I'd be interested in finding out who makes them and maybe buy a set.

I think the OP meant these are vinyl decals noy cheapo stickon trim. But from a distance in the photos it is hard to tell.

check out many of the sign / printing companies that do vinyl auto wraps, maybe they can help with a piece to replace the one you peeled off. I have been messing around with a large format printer to do similar faux molding, wood grain and other type stuff. this isnt an offer to sell, just saying it could be done, there are a lot of talented people out there.

Those used to be sold in most auto parts stores. I haven't seen them for quite a few years.

Yes it is strictly a decal. I am actually very frustrated by it to an extent. Looking a gift horse in the mouth I know. Will need to repaint fenders and put new stickers on, or pull them all off and repaint whole truck.

Can you ask the previous owner if they know anything about them?

Yeah that's the rub my brother-in-law bought it at auction and then sat on it for 3 years and didn't do anything with it. He's having trouble even trying to find the title right now. We traded it from Texas up to Colorado. So here I am with the truck and no title and not sure what to do. He never titled it in his name as he was just going to flip it.

No offense, but your BIL sounds a little disorganized

Use a heat gun to help remove the decals. Softens up the adhesive and allows them to come off without taking paint with it. That way you will not have to repaint everything.
