67-72 Dually with a bed......

I was driving down the road today and saw a real nice 69 C30 dually, I was a stake bed. I got to thinking, I have never seen a Dually period, much less one with a bed. What kind of fenders did they use, or did they even make any with beds? Pics please if they even exist.

they never made one with a dually bed from the factory, but some people have made some

someone posted this a long time ago, it looks to be factory or a conversion company. notice how the steps flare out, and the fenders are a bit wider to accomodate the duals. original or not, its sweet, and looks nicely done.

i actually know a guy that made his longhorn into a dually. grafted on stepside fenders.

no the one im talking about is green. i've never seen a picture of it on the board before. i just see it driving around and know who the guy is. but it looks identical to the pic you post just green. its really nice, he restored it at some point.

I've always liked this blue Longhorn with extra tires, saw it on line back in 99 for sale, then saw it again about 6 months ago, spoke to the seller, it's a pretty sweet rig, big block powered and has a 5th wheel in the back.

Here is a question/observation: in comparing the yellow and blue longhorn duallies, it looks to me like the yellow truck uses a factory stepside fender that has been contoured to mount to the side of the bed. The blue one looks like the fender flares have been constructed of the front half of 2 stepside fenders sectioned together?! Notice that the yellow fender is much longer behind the wheel than the blue one? I was showing my co-worker these pics as I am in the planning phase of a longhorn dually myself, and he noticed the difference right away.
Dont know which one I like better, but something else to think about now! I already have the 2 stepside fenders... do I want to come up with 2 more to make the "shorter" flares?

After looking even closer at the blue one, I decided that the blue truck looks more like about 8 inches of length was sectioned out of a factory fender?

I know a few years back anyway... you could by ones out of jc whiney that look like the ones on the blue truck... there is a dually in town that has some that look like the blue one.

I would think that if someone actually produced dually fender flares for the 67-72, they would not make the leading and trailing edges different profiles like the factory ones.
Any chance you could go by that dually and take a picture of what they have on it? Or ask the owner where he got them, etc?

it look to me like you coud take a step side fender and cut the side marker lite section out from top to buttom and make them

I don't think the yellow one is a Longhorn, just a 127 inch long bed. The filler cap is installed right where the line would be, and even if the 'longhorn line' has been filled, they would have placed the filler door further back just to make the fab worka little easier. I think it is an opticle dilusion that it is longer, just since it is low and the long fenders.
The blue one has modified step side fenders on it acording to the owner.
