i found your tread last night ..glad to see that you are ok ..that was a massive impact you had ..i know that this site will help with many questions i have and i am glad that rocktonka pointed me here ,big thanks to you .

well () here we go again ...in july 2009 i had a heart attack ,my second first was 2001 st patty's day ..but this time i had an ICD defibrillator implanted in december 2009 which sucks big time as i had just bought a miller stick welder for a 100 bucks ,this was going to be my training for my first ever welding lol..i have never welded before .but with this implant that is now out of the question ..and now i have been told that i will have to move my 63 again to storage .as i say to self..self sh*t happens and just deal with the punches ..there will always be tomorrow .....oh well .thats all for now :metal

thanks everyone for checking out my slow a$$ build lol

I am assuming the Doctor told you the welder will emit a frequency that will interfere with the pace maker? (not unlike a microwave oven?)
The reason I ask is because I thought they developed newer PMs that are shielded against that sort of thing??

Wish I were closer, I would come help you out.

Re: piratexpress1369a 1963 GMC Panel SLOW Build

well this is my plan .repair or replace body parts..engine does run ,once in a while i do you some blue smoke but not all the time ,it would not hurt to do a ring job..now i had thought that it was a 292 blue block . i had it up to a 100 mph before that tell me it has tall gears .but will have to check them out to be sure what they are ,but i am not sure again ..now my plan was to switch out the frame for a 4 wheel drive frame ..i have seen a few suburbans on this site and they look great ..so many ideas ..maybe shaved door handles and suicide doors ..one thing for sure i want to be able to open the back barn doors from inside !!. the interior i want an over head console with stereo and speakers and my ham radio. .the captain chairs will be redone and will try to find pedestal base .for the back do i keep the plywood floor or go with steel ?? i will add led strip lighting in the roof .2 colours red and white ..thats all for now ..

Re: piratexpress1369a 1963 GMC Panel SLOW Build

well have a little update ..just finished moving to a new place that has a garage woohoo, took me the whole month of febuary to move and it had to be the coldest time to move -20 c degrees to -30 c ....not to self try not to move in the winter ...so the last thing to get moved was the my 63 ..plan A was to get a trailer but that did not going to happen plan B was to drive it ..plan C was flat tow it and plan D was to get a wrecker to move it ...since this was a long move and short on cash but short on miles about 10 miles ..plan c was going to happen since i hold a dead battery and boosting it was no turn the motor over fast enough ..but my friend was worried that there was not brakes do to it sitting so long and being buried in the snow ..well i went to get some gas in the can and we talked about using the battery out of my jeep to see if it would start ...low and behold it turned over ..so i said to my friend pour some gas in the carb ..and it fired right up ...well looks like plan plan B is the game plan ..so with no windshield in and not heat lol ,i put in gear and drive it out of the snowbank in the driveway .first off lets just say that i do not like doing this but some times you have to do what you need to do and these are country roads ..so with two way radios ,no plates or insurance , down we go on the road ..first thing the exhaust pipe and muffler fall off ..stop and pick it up ..we get going again so far so good, make it to the second stop sign and all is good ,get it into second gear picking up speed but i need to slow down i am getting road salt and sand blown into my face ..now the two way radio goes off and my friend says that i lost my rear sun roof ..so i stop on the side of the road and he goes back to get it ...while he gets it i am standing out side waiting to see him coming back ..i see him jump back in the 63 and off we going again two more cross roads and i can see the turn for the house ..i make the last turn and now its to the house ....well we make it there ..i get backed into the driveway turn it off ...TOUCHDOWN!!!
my friend comes up with the sunroof which at this piont i think it is just the steel frame with no glass in it ..i could not believe my eyes , all it had was a small spot of road rash on the corner of the frame ..glass is all good ..talk about have horseshoe up my butt lol....so right now it is waiting for me to get the garage set up so i can bring inside ...thats all for now

ps i did not take pictures or video and if you ever ask i will say it never happened lol

woke up this morning and looking outside i see this strange sight of this black rectangle shape on the front lawn ..then the fog clears in my brain and i know what it is ..it's my sunroof smashed on lawn from the high winds we had last night ..the frame is still good but the glass is not ..what a mess ..well thats life ..looks like i will have replace the whole frame and glass now.

If has been a while since I have updated my page but today I have sad news I have to sell my beloved 63;, I really don't want to do this but I must come to the reality that I can no longer afford to do what I want with it and I will no longer have a place to store it... thanks for the memory
