3ott to automatic conversion question - 700r4 - starter
I just got my motor back from the rebuild, a new 700r4 tranny, starting putting it all together to install in the truck but ran into a issue. The bell housing from the old manual 3ott is different from the 700r4 and doesn't seem to have the same place for the starter. Do i need a new starter for the 3ott to auto conversion?

Re: 3ott to automatic conversion question - 700r4 - starter
So, after some research this morning, the old starter that is used for a manual tranny does not work for an auto tranny, my 700r4 anyway. The old starter bolts horizontally onto the manual tranny housing. The new tranny, my 700r4, does not have this and a new starter must be bolted to the engine block vertically.
