If you look closely you can see that someone added a tilt column at some point.

Mere technicalities is all. It's got an open bed so to us it's a truck.
That garage is full of neat stuff. How many engines in there?

I counted 3 sbc motors and several transmissions. We made a deal for everything automotive in the garage. I hope one of the motors is the original to the Cheyenne.

So what is the story on the rescue? How did you come upon it? I always like to hear a good "barn find" story

Not a very exciting story, but I found them in the non running vehicle section of a local online classified ad. The seller wanted to sell both trucks to one buyer, so I called and worked out a price that also included all the extra parts.

Rexburg, it's in the southeast of idaho. The winters can be tough, but everything else is great. We're about 90 miles from Yellowstone park.

I always like seeing old iron rescued, especially a Janesville made truck. I grew up in Janesville and my dad retired from the GM plant.

If we decide to build the Cheyenne, we'll start a build thread in the correct section.

Re: 1972 swb cheyenne find and rescue

Had some time today to run the casting and block # on the motors that came in this stash. We have two 400 small blocks and most likely the original 350 out of the Cheyenne. The TDJ is listed as a 1972 c10/c20 motor. It's also listed as a van/bus motor in 1980. I'll do a little more digging and hopefully I can rule out the 1980 date.
