TBI Issues
'90 suburban 350 TBI (low miles)/700r4
OK, so I changed the fuel pump last week, oil pressure switch again, coil, fuel filter, recent tune up, tank full of gas, ordered new connectors for the wires to the pump. I have a haynes book for 88-98 which seems to cover only the ck series and not the old square bodies even though they were made until '91. Before it would only start and run for a minute if I sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body. If I wanted to start it again, repeat the process. I didn't hear the pump turn on before I changed it, still not turning on. I removed the fuel filter and connected the line to a hose, tried to start it and it filled the container. Looking at the injectors no fuel is getting to them, even with spraying it doesn't start. Not sure if this is related but I tried to start it today and the key was stuck in the ignition in on position basically trying to start, had to run and pull the battery cables to turn it off. Now I try to hook the battery up and it sparks really bad. I'm trying to ensure everything works fine because I'm going to switch over to a '91 suburban because this one the frame shock mount is broken. The '91 donor has no wiring harness or engine/transmission. As always any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: TBI Issues
The burned connector goes from the harness on the firewall to the tank, the yellow wire connected to the fuel pump relay goes to the positive battery terminal.

Re: TBI Issues
The burned connector in the picture is a Delphi Weatherpak 2 position #12059473
You'll need the Delphi 12089040 Male terminals and Delphi 15324982 Green seals because that overheated fuel pump terminal is likely pretty brittle now. You probably need the Delphi Weatherpak 12015792 2 position tower as well along with the 12089188 female terminals along with the same green seals as the male half. Remove that yellow bodge wire before you have a fire. It looks like you almost had a catastrophe with that fuel pump connector next to the gas tank. Repair the insulation on the White and Orange wires with adhesive heatshrink. Don't cut the wires. If you cut the wires the repair will not be as sturdy as the original wire will be without a splice. You'll probably have to extract the terminals on those wires from the fuel pump relay socket to slide the shrink over the exposed strands without cutting them. Find out why the ECM B fuse isn't supplying power to the Orange wire with the ignition turned on. The only service manuals that really cover the RV trucks are the GM manuals. Haynes takes a whack at it in the 73-87 manual but... The 1991 Emissions and Driveability manual has a troubleshooting and diagnosis sections with troubleshooting trees for no-start condition and various fuel delivery system troubleshooting trees and pages of written diagnostics. This GM manual covers the full line of light trucks so you'll want to take care to read the sections that apply to your RV series rig. Troubleshooting the fuel pump system starts on page 3-12 PDF page 56. The No-Start troubleshooting tree A3 is on page 3-31 PDF page 75. The fuel pump relay circuit troubleshooting starts on page 3-40 PDF page 85.
