Suburban buyers guide

Hello every one. I’m in the search stage for a 4x4 suburban. I currently own a 71 K20.
I couldn’t find the info I’m after by searching. I was hoping those of you that are more familiar with the unique issues suburbans are known to have, would be able to chime in about anything special to look out for when buying one of these trucks. Thanks for all your help.

If a thread like this already exists some where, please be kind enough to point me in that direction.

Most women like the strong, silent type… Fortunately for me, my wife prefers the out-of-shape, mouthy type.

Re: Suburban buyers guide

Welcome aboard! Good luck with your search. Our Burbans have some parts that are prone to rust and have no repop metal panels available. The back gate & hatch/doors are a problem, and the third door sills have no direct replacement parts but you can use front door sills if your creative. The floors in the back are wood and after 45+ years are often in poor condition. As of last year I believe that all of the window seals are finally available. Most truck options were available in Burbans. Rear AC can be restored but I understand it is expensive. If you want Buddy Buckets they are really rare and thus expensive. There are threads on how others have repaired problems so your not sailing into uncharted waters.

Here are some build threads which are a good source for pictures of problem areas.
