Dumb Question; But Humor Me
Is there any particular reason the steam tube discharge comes from the drivers side? Is it because the way the coolant flows through the engine it is easier to evacuate from the drivers side? or was it just a flip of the coin that it ended up there? Science or happenstance? In my case, with the new lines, it would be more convenient to exit from the passenger side unless there is a reason not to. Thanks.

Re: Dumb Question; But Humor Me
I'm sure it was because it was easier to rout through the throttle body and then to the radiator. I flipped mine around and bent it to fit and works fine.

Re: Dumb Question; But Humor Me
Not saying it's the answer, but one thing to remember is that the cylinders on one bank are set backwards relative to the other bank (by one rod width).
Perhaps there's a greater accumulation of steam on the one with the bigger coolant reservoir at the front of the bank?

I'm in the process of pulling a 2010 LMG engine from a Tahoe. The steam line comes from the passenger side head and goes directly to the radiator.

Re: Dumb Question; But Humor Me
I don’t know if true but I was told that since the coolant is pushed through the motor front ps lower side, the steam port was on the higher side because of possible air pockets.
Idk really.

Re: Dumb Question; But Humor Me
There are a handful of different variations of these crossover tubes specific to the application for the vehicle the engine was installed in.
One style has a tee right in the crossover tube. |

Re: Dumb Question; But Humor Me
No matter how you look at it you still have a Steamport coming from both heads I don’t think it cares were it goes to from there
