Re: Unkown connecter

Thanks for the fast replies. I thought that to but the alt is hooked up and works. And its too short to reach. Could it be for the orignal choke of a 2bb carb. I know they usealy only have one wire. Not shure what the choke wire even looks like for a 2bb . Mines not hooked up and swiched to a qjet.

Re: Unkown connecter

Your description sure sounds like the pathetic emissions control the 70 and 71 models had that was called the transmission controlled spark. The plug with the two browns and the blue wire were plugged into a vacuum switch on the carburetor that would retard the timing
when engine vacuum was low.
Most of the trucks from that era had these systems disconnected because they did nothing and removing them never hurt anything.

You should have a couple of relays on the firewall or over the fuse box with wires running to them as well.
if you do a search on the forums for Transmission controlled spark, you should get more information. VV

Re: Unkown connecter

time to play round two.
i dont have a photo of it yet i will get one soon but on the right side their is a single light green wire with a connection the same as the temp sender (dark green). i think it could be the original choke wire but it does not work with my qjet. the carb is off of an 80s chevy. hense the reason its the choke not hooked up. any one have an idea on what it could be.

Re: Unkown connecter

'71 did not have an electric choke. Is it a two-prong jack, with the other wire color as black? If so, it would be for the AC compressor.
