1972 c-10 project

Been looking for a couple months now for a solid 67-62 c10 and finally came across one in my area. It’s a 1972 c10 swb project and the guy is selling it as a roller. He has everything for the truck minus motor and trans. His asking price is $3500, is that a good deal for a solid 72 swb c10?

if you have no rust thru grab it, you can part it for more...of coarse you can always part for more ....steel bed floor ? no real transport cost cuz its local..... see what other parts he has to throw in ...looks like he shaved the firewall? one pic shows glass then doors off & no glass make sure you get it all ....just my 2 cents

Yep, check for rust in all the locations and make sure it's a genuine SWB. That price seems good for the current market if it's a real short bed and a good solid cab/frame.

It has a steal bed floor. I went and looked at it over the weekend. It comes with front bumper, grill, seat, glove box, gauges, headlights, marker side lights, both doors with glass in both of them. The doors where hung on the truck when I went and looked at it. I checked the frame and the body where the normal rust areas would be and it seemed to be a really solid truck. It doesn’t come with the windshield though. Is $3500 a good price for this truck?

The value is what your willing to pay for it, in my opinion. He's asking $3500 for a roller that needs everything, and everything that is there needs to be replaced or rebuilt. It looks straight and seems to be a good starting point, but you figure he's asking about 10% of what your going to put in it, just to make it a nice driver. I would definitely start lower. Not an insult lower You can always go up but never down. If he's had it for a while that's a good thing, might be willing to drop right away.

$3500 is a good price for that truck but (as always) if you can get it for a lower price then that always is a bonus.
As mentioned, the trick in getting it for less....is not to make a disrespectful offer.
(noting that there is a difference between a low offer and a disrespectful offer)

Take 15-20 minutes and make a quick inventory of what might be missing...ie: seat? either bumper? both bumpers? tailgate? bumper brackets? instrument cluster? steering wheel? inner door panels, carpet?.....this will have a bearing on pricing if it is a major item that is difficult to source and an expensive item to buy to make it a driver, etc.

I would offer $2500 and have the money right there in $100 bills and tell me him you can have it all out of his way within the day.

He’s got everything for it that you mentioned except carpet and the rear bumper. He’s got a roll pan instead of the rear bumper. He does not have the windshield for it

There is also another 72 swb c10 in my area for $2200. Guy says it’s all solid except for rockers and cab corners. He says he’s got everything for the truck except motor and trans. Does that sound like a better deal?

Sorry to chime in... No. Not in my opinion. Well, if you can do all the sheet metal replacement yourself, maybe. Likely, corners and rockers can turn into cab supports, lower A pillars, kick panels, maybe a floor.... You get the idea. If the $3500 one is REALLY solid, that's a good deal. The cab is worth $2000 to $2500 if it's solid, the frame another $1000, the assorted sheetmetal (front end) is about $750 or so, and the bed will likely bring about $1000. So, $3500 isn't out of line for the truck. Don't insult him, just nibble and get it for what you can. I believe the better truck is less expensive than fixing the cheaper one. Just my opinion... I bought what I thought was a solid cab, then spent about $3000 fixing the darn thing after I sandblasted it... So to me, $3500 for an almost complete, solid truck, doesn't sound too bad....

Look inside the cab down in the corners, use a flashlight if you have to. Like darrellyates said, that extra money will save you a lot of time. I just bought a running 69 long bed, $2,500. The cabs the same lwb or swb. I should have run my hand down inside the cab corners, they did a nice job covering everything up. I ended up replacing everything except the center hump. The sheet metals cheap but definitely more work than I really wanted to put in it. I would climb under both before pullin out the cash.
