Pictures would help.
If you are planning putting the hooks in the stake pocket holes it will probably cause damage or slip out and ??? Buy or make something like in the link below would be better. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...m_source=Bing_

Re: Pair of 1,000 lbs straps good for removing bed??
I was checking that out. But kinda pricey for a 1 time use. This is more like a budget build/restore. Ain't got that kind of money to build or buy something when that money can go into the truck. Heck, I'm having to borrow the engine hoist. This whole truck is being done at home with a shop just doing the floor and door jams...and that alone took me most of the year to save just for the floor.

You could make something like that out of wood (2x4s)and use your straps and hoist.
Or you could make eyebolts and lift it from the bed mounting bolts. Just a few ideas. Do you have pics of your plan to lift?

No pics yet. I heard lifting from the bed mounting bolts can damage the floor.

Quote:
If using the Eyebolts I would run a board the full length of the bed top and bottom of course the rear bolt has bigger channel. The straps should hold the weight as long as they are in a good position. Looks like a good plan. Will you have the bed off very long? If so making a cart to roll it around would save you a lot of time and effort later.

Re: Pair of 1,000 lbs straps good for removing bed??
The bed is gonna be off for a while. On the 18th, the cab is going to the body shop for the floor, rocker panels, drip rails, cab corners, all to be replaced. One the truck is back, the cab is going on a diet. Gonna remove the cab and motor. Than remove everything from the frame. Strip and paint the frame. Rebuild the suspension. Rebuild and paint the axle. The lost goes on.

For a 1 time use, ratchet straps should work just fine. Take your time and move slowly. I’m sure you won’t have any issues.

Buy a case of canned beverages and invite 3 guys over for 10 minutes work and an afternoon of sharing the drinks and swapping stories.

Re: Pair of 1,000 lbs straps good for removing bed??
I pulled mine with straps in an x and a crane truck. I put the hooks down below the outside of the front bed panel in the cross sill and the same at the rear below the tail gate. I pulled it and set it this way and everything is still straight as can be. At the outer ends of the cross sill there is an opening perfect for the hooks. Also I really doubt lifting from the bolt holes in the floor would damage the floor at all. I doubt a long bed weighs anymore than 5-600 lbs. maybe it’s just my simple mind but I can’t see that hurting the floor when the weight is spread over 4 holes.

Re: Pair of 1,000 lbs straps good for removing bed??
Remember the tension on the straps will vary depending on the angle. I’ve used ratchet straps to remove a short/wide bed, but the safer (and easier) way is a few guys like they said.
