I'd try to stop all that surface rust, even if your new black paint doesn't match perfect, it will be hardly noticeable being black.

Make sure all mechanical things are in working order. Re-pack front wheel bearings, machine rotors and install new semi-metallic brake pads. Suck the old brake fluid brake fluid out of m/cyl, then bleed front and rear brakes, purging them of old cruddy fluid...

Check rear end, maybe change oil in it...

Best thing being a 71 or 72 is having disc brakes, no conversion needed. I plan to install manual disc brakes on my 67 and 68, wondering how the brake pedal effort will be when I do that.

I'm guessing that the 3.07 gear ratio was an option, I'd guess that the 3.73 would be standard for a 6 cyl...

My ONLY change would be a small block 400 and TH350 trans...maybe....
