Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I attempted this repair 3 or 4 times. The shaft appeared in perfect shape and would leak a little or even a lot after each attempt. I think I was nicking the seal on the machined lip. Replaced shaft and seal in a somewhat reverse manner and it's been leak free almost 2 years. Now that I post about it, there will be a pubble on the floor in the morning. Just like I bragged about my 53 year old driver window regulator working so well last week. Guess what's in the mail for replacement this week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finally installed chrome tailgate handle cover. Met Eric (Chevyland) at C10 Intervention Woodland 2024 and he informed me that my truck should have it being it's Sierra Grande. He sent it within a week of the show and I just got around to installing it. Thank You Eric

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

So a coworker, who's been helping me work on my 71 Jimmy, called me this morning to say he saw my Jimmy on Facebook and listed for $3400.
Well, since I paid $3750 in 1995 for it, I'm not taking a loss. Not for sale at all.

EDIT: For some reason, I could not upload a pic captured off Facebook, I put it in 'Drive' on my cell phone. I can pick it up when I Manage Attachements, and select it. File name is, ''bogusfacebook'' but when I push upload images, it drops out.

Here's the photo of your Jimmy. Looks like it was taken from quite a distance.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Thanks Pat. They would have taken the shot from the street. About 60 feet back and slightly higher elevation. Judging from the shadow angle, it was shot in the morning. Probably some landscaper or pool guy.

No one's been banging my door with $3400 in their hot little hands.

I'll have to make up a NOT FOR SALE sign.

Show today in my town was nice not having to drive an hour to a show . But that’s what I get for living in the sticks . Was cool and cloudy but a good turnout

I like your rear bumper. I can't wait to find one for my truck. I hope to find one this year at the all truck meet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Investigating an odor in my 72 . Really bad one I found this guess he got stuck and couldn’t get out . Took the inner wheel house out and got the heater box removed and was surprised there was no nest . Just this decaying mouse snapped a few shots down the inside heater box and it was very clean . I love taking things apart on my west coast trucks . Nothing broke and I just used a Milwaukee cordless 3/8 ratchet.

I installed a slip yoke eliminator and custom double cardan driveshaft on my 68 k10 from Tom Woods driveshafts. My chassis is basically done now:

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Decided to paint the inner wheelhouse since it was off . Some surface rust but no rot and this is the battery side which tends to rot away faster than the drivers side.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finished the Jeep 4.0 and stuck my head under the hood of the C10 for the first time.
It’s unreal how much room and how few thingies there are under there.

Also funny how fuel and even flame under the hood of the Chevy doesn’t really freak me out, but that 4.0 showering pressurized gas onto a hot manifold and cats made me pucker big time
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EWQ16...?feature=share

Anyhow, starting on the drippy water pump

All cleaned and painted . Installed today and now I’m wanting to take off the drivers side and paint it looks terrible . And that’s how it starts going into snowball mode.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Kindig door handles installed. The shaved doors from the PO were a hassle. I've had shaved doors but couldn't get these right after many tries.

The Kindig handles work very well, just have alot of bodywork left where the PO used body filler around the handle area. All good because I can get in the truck easy now! Bodywork over the next week to get it looking decent.

I'll throw some pics up soon.

Thank you! The PO did a number on those doors and I accidentally cut the drivers hole on the line, so more bodywork to get that looking right. Almost wrapped up the Drivers side today.

Comet washed the 67 yesterday and used rubbing compound on it today. It's a poor, old, darker red repaint over the original 514 red. Not sure what someone was doing with the passenger side bedside, but oh well.

I’m digging that look in the first pick. Too bad that other side is different.
That would look nice left alone .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I put Enhanced Antique plates on this. I can drive April to Oct and then only to shows from Oct to April. $10 more than just April to Oct. So it is "on the road" and as any of you know who have spent years putting one back together, NOW is when the real work begins, getting all the details correct. I have already had an alternator fail (new no miles) and just yesterday my clutch slave cylinder failed and I coasted into the hardware store parking lot (new with no miles). It was good that I kept my "test" miles close to the garage because I had to walk back and get tools then grabbed the Toyota to run and get the new slave cyl. Took about 2 hours BUT it didn't rain so all good.
