Possible to build a c10 with no original parts?

Just asking for curiosity sake.

Would it be possible assemble a new truck using 100% aftermarket parts available today? (Parts from small fabrication shops would be acceptable as long as the parts they were offering are commercially available to an average consumer. No 'one off' or custom made parts for the project).

I am not talking a perfect, exact showroom reproduction of a 67-72 as would of been on a floor in the 60s/70s but a running/driving truck that anyone would recognize as a c10. Something like a modern LS based engine and running gear is fine as long as it would bolt into the chassis without fabbing custom motor mounts.

So is there enough available aftermarket parts to assemble an entire working truck with no vintage parts? Just wondering....

I think you could do it with everything but the cab. Not sure anyone makes aftermarket cabs. Frames, beds, fenders, doors, crossmembers, headlights, taillights, markers, etc. you can get aftermarket. Everything else (motors, brakes, suspension) is pretty standard aftermarket.

I wouldn't be surprised if Real Deal Steel doesn't start making cabs and body parts for our trucks. They are like the '32 fords of the truck world.

Here's a refurbished cab if you got deep pockets.

There's more money in restoring cabs than any flip . less than $500. for a titled cab and a few hundred on the sheet metal and epoxy prime ...I'll bet they would sell fast at $3,5 - $4,000.00 and your old rusty cab trade in .

Re: Possible to build a c10 with no original parts?

When I was in elementary school, I remember getting up Saturday mornings to watch Stacey David build Copperhead on Trucks. As I remember, the whole point of that build was to show that you could build a truck starting with just a cab. It was really what put the desire for a 1967 in my head.

I know someone started reproducing the cab in metal, it was discussed on here a couple years ago...

so may i ask...WHAT HAPPENED to the dynacorn cabs ?

if i recall, they did offer a c10, first gen bronco, tri five sedans, and some others that are no longer listed ??

what pieces of sheet metal cannot be bought ? i have seen other companies doing the assembly for some of the mentioned above and selling new replacement bodies.

Re: Possible to build a c10 with no original parts?

There have been cabs made and maybe still. The problem is they don't fit on the frame (JK!!)

I think there are many small incidental parts that would need to be OEM. Not every piece is reproduced. If you really wanted the opposite of the '67 I am building (all OEM, except speed equipt) and build a totally no parts GM truck you would have to make those small pieces.
