black seat, w/ B-W hounds, ochre or wheatland paint?

I have a nice, new black bench seat with black and white houndstooth. I know this combo actually didn't come factory on a bench, but is very common.

Has anyone here installed this type bench on a wheatland (school bus yellow) or ochre truck? Most I see use the factory style white seat with hounds or brown. I am just wondering if it will look ok with that paint choice.

I like it. My truck was repainted painted ochre but the original paint was placer gold, special order. Inside the cab it's still placer gold

When I read OP's opening thread I was thinking ... Um no!

But then I see a pic of exactly what he is looking for ... Fantastic, really looks nice.

Sometimes it takes a picture =)

Thanks! Do you have any more pictures? I was considering white door panels as the seat does have some white in it, but that black looks good too.

here's another one for you. If you go with black vinyl on the seat, I'd definitely go black door panels. What trim level is your truck?

Where can a guy order a seat cover like this or is it custom made? I was hoping to match my factory one as close as possible it looks almost identical to yours but has a engraved western type design in the middle.

Re: black seat, w/ B-W hounds, ochre or wheatland paint?

The one you are showing is original GM for the Custom Deluxe trim level.
CARS Inc used to make one - they might still, I'd check there first.

If not, I THINK SMS carries the fabric, you could take it to a shop and have it sewn into a Cheyenne level seat cover (which IS available off the shelf - it's the solid vinyl seat cover with the exact same scroll work as yours, but vinyl pleats where your fabric is located). Could also take the current seat cover to a good uph shop and let them do their magic. Personally, I'd provide the Cheyenne cover, and fabric if I could find it - and then let them run with it.

Re: black seat, w/ B-W hounds, ochre or wheatland paint?

Some references, but they have no pics. You do NOT want the "Cheyenne Super" seat cover, it is the houndstooth. CARS descriptions not completely clear below the Cheyenne trim level (and the two levels below that are Custom (i.e. "base"), and Custom Deluxe).
I'd call CARS and tell them what you need and ask for pics of the exact covers.

Here's a Cheyenne full seat cover - all vinyl with scrollwork

This one is just called "standard" - not clear if it's the all vinyl base level (probably is) or the Custom Deluxe you seek - but is the full seat cover.

And here is the exact fabric for your seat - JUST the cloth fabric.

With the first and third link, you could take the two to an upholstery shop and have what you need made.

Hey WAIT! Here's the whole enchilada assembled, ready to order at SMS!

Well, maybe - I don't see it populating a price.... You'd have to call em. Good luck! I really like this trim level's seat cover better than any of them, incl Cheyenne Super.

Here's a Super I had a few years back. It's a beautiful color combination.

If that's the case, I'd think long and hard before changing from parchment (and then still do it if you prefer it of course!). Keep in mind that supers were not available at all with black door panels unless you ordered black buckets. And don't forget about visors, etc. I prefer cloth over vinyl, so, while it does make sense to put a black vinyl/bw houndstooth seat in what was originally a black Cheyenne or lower (because one would already have black door panels, visors, etc), I think the parchment in a super with the woodgrain is a very classic look. Don't get me wrong, it comes down to personal taste - and some prefer the black interior over the parchment - but I didn't realize you had a Super until this post, and that brings the door panels, visors (and resale...) all into play. No wrong answer though.

This truck isn’t originally a super, nor parchment interior...nor yellow or ochre. I’m making it look like one to a degree because I like the extras. Not trying to mislead. I already have a newly covered black vinyl houndstooth seat ready though.

Sounds like you have a plan in place and its gonna be cool ... But, please please, don't cut the dash

Oh no worries at all, absolutely build it however you like. I just figured if originally a super, you'd have all the existing extra parchment stuff to contend with besides just the door panels, that's all. Ochre is a great color too. Looking forward to pictures!
