Tail light help!

Hello everyone

I recently got a new(new to me) stepside bed (wife and kiddos liked the original look of the stepside versus the swb I had on there)

I bought a new rear wire harness,
I've bought all new tail lights and reverse lights

The blinkers/ hazard lights work
The brake lights work

The running lights do not and neither do the reverse lights

I climbed under the bed and put a 0gauge (left over from a previous car audio project) ground wire didnt change anything

I climbed under the dash and the neutral safety switch wasnt connected previous owner bypassed it by blading the 2 purple wires together

If I blade the 2 green wires together I get constant reverse lights

Could the neutral safety switch be bad?

Any other ideas for the running lights?

Thanks!

Re: Tail light help!

Neutral safety switch is probably not adjusted properly, have someone move the lever through the range while you watch the reverse lamps.

Use a test lamp to check for power at the tail lamp harness and the bulb pin, ground-it to the frame and then the light housing to see if its a ground issue.
Or check ground continuity using a multimeter.

The stop lamp could be getting a false ground through the tail lamp bulb so ignore that it works and apparently has a ground until you know the tail lamp housing is grounded.
