A New SB: 1979 C20

So, rather unexpectedly, I added another square body to the collection. While I cannot say my wife is super excited I think she is getting used to surprises.

I found this 1979 C20 online and the guy was having a hard time selling it. After reading the post I knew why, it was miscatagorized and the spelling was horrible, making searching by potential buyers nearly impossible. I was after a OEM hood for a 73-81 when stumbled onto it, dozens of pages down the search rabbit hole. It is a very solid truck and the price I paid was silly so it came home. As it sits it will crank and run for a short period and then die. There is some rust in the fuel filter so I bet two clean tanks and a new filter will get her going like a champ.

I'm not big into 3/4 tons (unless it has a CTD) so I am deciding what to do with it. Keep it (wife angry), flip it (wife happy), or strip it for parts (SB community unhappy).

Thoughts?

As clean as it looks from one pic, I'd say flip it in the northeast. You'll pretty much have to swap it onto a k10 or k20 chassis. Invest in brakes, tires, engine tuneup, and only what's needed to get it road legal and safe. Basically, make it a solid stock runner that someone else can customize as they want. Advertise it in the 8k range in the rust belt.

Re: A New SB: 1979 C20

I'd definitely make it safe and ensure it is road legal if I flipped it, I refuse to sell junk or have something terrible rest on my shoulders. Not sure if I would be interested in converting it to 4WD but its a thought for sure, plenty of other projects and if I did I would probably keep it afterward. You know how that goes.

Guys would fight to the death for a truck like that up here in New England! At the very least, please keep it together in one piece...

I'm accepting offers and can ship! No reason to be uncivilized.

That an idle threat (see what I did there?) since I can't hardly get one to idle now.

ROFL love the response to my sarcasm LOL Seriously being you're a supporting member why not post it for sale in the classifieds. Unfortunately you will have to post a price, but there's no reason people cant make offers

Too bad it's a 3/4-Ton, or I'd take you up on that! Been on the hunt for a 1-Ton to build a service truck.

Heck, if I had the room for another truck, I'd buy it as a spare...
