Aluminum Radiator Mounting

What are you all doing to mount square tank type aluminum radiators using the stock V8 style U shaped saddles with the rubber inserts? I shaved down the rubber inserts, but don't like that the metal part of the saddle is now real close to the tank, and the fit is not so good. I reached out to both Champion Radiator and Brothers and while both understood the problem, neither had a solution.
I know somebody out there has figured this out.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Aluminum Radiator Mounting

I also fabricated my top mount (mine was missing from the previous owner, so I had to make one anyway).

Re: Aluminum Radiator Mounting

I had to add about 3/4” to the top mount and then I used thinner rubber pads for the bottom.

Re: Aluminum Radiator Mounting

I fabbed a bottom U channel by welding up thin angle iron. Modified a stock upper mount by cutting and welding. Applied some rubber sheeting to both for cushioning via adhesive silicone.

Re: Aluminum Radiator Mounting

Some great info and ideas. Of course not as easy as expected, but I'm used to that.
Thanks to all who replied,
Tom
