Motor City K5 - anyone tried their USA made hatch parts?

Curious if anyone has tried any of the hatch hardware now available at Motor City K5.

Here’s an example https://www.motorcityk5.com/i-13567-...atch%26go%3DGo

Not yet but I will be purchasing the center mechanism. I will post a review once the arrive.

I was going to purchase one of Jesse B’s but he stopped making them. Partially because these were available and offered for less than what he was selling his for. The hatch handle mechanism looks like it lacks stiffener ribs and the cam does not look like it’s removable. It might work well but those are things I noticed that deviate from the OEM components.

Doesn’t your NOS handle have the center mechanism attached?

I'll let you know, I ordered the following parts from Mark.

Hatch latch rods
Hatch latch right and left
Center mechanism

I've ordered quite a few parts from him in the past few months for my Jimmy.
Great service and good quality parts.

A little off topic- but from searching around, it seems the center mechanism bolts to hatch where as the screw heads should be visible inside. My hatch has no holes here?

Re: Motor City K5 - anyone tried their USA made hatch parts?

Greetings everyone:
I hope everyone is doing ok.
I purchased some hatch parts from Mark at MotorcityK5.Com; I have not yet received them or installed them, so I will update as soon as I install them. I can tell everyone that Mark is hard at work day & night trying to get us all American made parts, and he’s a super nice guy to speak with. Literally works day & night, weekends, etc.. lets all try to support our American businesses & American workers. Give Mark a call and he’ll answer the phone. No computer voices or people you can’t understand. I’ll upload photos when I install, should be today according to fedex. His PHONE No.: 1-810-225-3436. If there’s folks on here making parts too, let’s support them too. But, Mark’s spent a lot of time perfecting his parts for precision & quality. I’ll update accordingly.

The interior surface shows nothing obvious with the same texture all the way across.

I collected all the internals for the hatch from the forum and will be getting around to it sometime this year.

I’ll tell him. Lol
While I’m here, can I ask you: have you done any repair work to the hard top of your k5, if you’ve got one? Mine is a 1970 K5, and the rear hatch has done cracks, holes, that I need to repair. I was gonna get a fiberglass repair kit, but I’m not sure if that will work. I don’t think the top is fiberglass. Just looking for guidance.
Thank you 🙏 for any help,
Craig

I just received a center mechanism, bolts, hatch hooks, and a right side hook, and they look great. The center mechanism I had to file it very lightly to get a tight fit on the handle. I’m in the process of putting it all back together, but all parts from MotorcityK5 look great.
I could use some photos of the mechanism hooked up to the connecting rods if anyone has some.
