1972 C10 Lokar cable linkage

Found a dealer that sells the Lokar ACA-1805 column cable gear selector for cheap. Need to know if the column is 2" or 2-1/4". Putting it on a new 6L80 trans. Can't use the rod linkage because of trans cooler AN fittings being in the way.

Is there any problem with dialing the shifts to match column positions? These units are normally $160+ and this outfit is selling them for $69.-$98 depending on size of shaft and trans. Says "Lokar", hope it's not a "knockoff"?

The company is pirate manufacturing. They are knock offs. The real lobar is pretty much the same price everywhere.

Re: 1972 C10 Lokar cable linkage

Just had several emails back and forth with a tech at Lokar. They went to the site and found that one or more of their large distributors are selling to these outfits. This outfit says they make a cable unit for the 6L80, but Lokar says they don't. So, they will say anything to sell you a product. As long as you buy the 2" unit, attachment to trans can be tweeked. These are not knockoffs, but one or more distributors selling a lot of Lokar units to Iwemotion. Shows you the markup!

How about a link to the site? I'm interested. The rod style works but transmits a lot of vibration

Re: 1972 C10 Lokar cable linkage

The site is www.iwemotion.com
You will see many sites for different products, but you just put "Lokar" in the search area and all the products will come up. They show a Lokar ACA-1805 (2-1/4") ACA-1806 (1-1/2") but don't show the ACA -1804 which is the 2". Lokar says that they don't make a unit for the 2" C10 column, so I was thinking about ordering the 2-1/4 inch and welding in a 1/8th" ring which would give me the extra 1/4". Thinking and doing are two seperate things! Lokar says they don't make a unit for the 6L80, but the only difference would be the cable attachment point on the bottom of the trans?? Let me know what you think.

Re: 1972 C10 Lokar cable linkage

I'll have to measure the dia of my column. I have an aftermarket column I bought at Brothers Trucks. I believe it is a CPP Tilt Column. If it is 2", why wouldn't the ACA-1804 2" not work on our trucks? I have a 2004R so the trans hookup would work for me.

Re: 1972 C10 Lokar cable linkage

The Lokar ACA-1804 is the right one for a 2" column, but I didn't see it on the "iwemotion" site. Lokar sells it for $160.+ and the 2-1/4 is $79.00 on this site. I sent this outfit an email, but they have not responded. It's only a matter of time before Lokar has a "Cease and Discease" order on this outfit.

I agree, will probably bite the bullet and order the 2" one. Amazon has it for ~160 or so also, I'll go that route as I get 5% cash back. Anything helps.
